Lighting is important to obtaining good images with the PG1000. All new PG1000 units include an adjustable LED gooseneck spotlight and a curved magnetic light diffuser plate but other lighting accessories may benefit each user’s unique inspection requirements.
Ring Light

The LED ring light is mounted directly to the camera/microscope assembly, providing uniform, shadow-free illumination. Light intensity can be easily adjusted through the REACTION software or with an optional manual rheostat (available upon request).
New for 2026: We’ve added a diffuser plate to soften the illumination and reduce overall light intensity, allowing for finer, more precise lighting adjustments through the REACTION software.
Backlight

The 6” x 6” LED backlight panel provides ideal illumination for capturing clear, high-contrast profile images of cutting tools. By positioning the light behind the tool, a sharp, well-defined silhouette is created, making it easier to inspect and measure tool geometry. Light intensity is easily controlled through the REACTION software.
The backlight assembly includes an adjustable articulating arm that attaches to the base block, allowing for flexible positioning and easy adjustment.
Curved Light Diffuser Plate

The curved light diffuser plate is designed to work with the LED spotlight to provide softer, more uniform illumination. By diffusing the light, it helps minimize harsh reflections and hotspots on the tool, improving image clarity and visibility of cutting tool features.
In addition to improving lighting conditions, the diffuser plate can serve as a clean, white background for capturing high-quality tool images.
The diffuser plate features a strong magnetic backing, allowing for quick and secure mounting to the base block, V-block, or concentricity fixture for flexible positioning.
Diffuser Card

The curved 3″ x 3″ diffuser card is designed for inspecting the face and front-end geometry of cutting tools. Featuring four predrilled holes, the card slips easily over the tool to provide softer, more uniform illumination while minimizing harsh reflections and hotspots. In addition to improving lighting conditions, the diffuser card serves as a clean, white background for capturing clear, high-quality tool images.
For added versatility, operators can enlarge the existing holes or create additional holes to accommodate different tool sizes and inspection requirements.

The eight-quadrant LED illumination tube provides a highly customizable lighting environment for precise cutting tool inspections. Its individually controlled lighting zones are especially beneficial when inspecting small tools at high magnification, allowing users to optimize illumination to highlight specific tool features and improve image clarity. The light intensity of each quadrant can be independently adjusted through the REACTION software, providing precise control over lighting angles and intensity for enhanced inspection capabilities.
